Sharper, Smarter, Stronger: The 2026 BMW X1
August 26 2025 - Gary Mollohan

The 2026 BMW X1 xDrive28i continues to raise the bar for luxury compact SUVs with a refined blend of performance, technology, and design. Under the hood, it features a 241-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard all-wheel drive—delivering a brisk 0–60 mph time of 6.2 seconds. The exterior showcases a bold evolution of BMW’s design language, with a larger double kidney grille, slim LED headlights, and sculpted lines that give it a confident, athletic stance.

This iteration introduces several key upgrades, including the frameless BMW Curved Display powered by the latest iDrive 9 system, offering intuitive touch and voice controls. Inside, the cabin is more tech-forward and premium than ever, with wireless charging, Veganza soft-touch upholstery, and a reimagined center console. Safety and convenience also see a boost with features like Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant, and Reversing Assistant, which can retrace your last 50 meters of driving. Altogether, the 2026 X1 xDrive28i is smarter, sleeker, and more versatile—designed to meet the demands of modern drivers with style and substance.

"As the entry point for BMW's deep lineup of SUVs, the X1 is the smallest and least expensive of the bunch," wrote automotive website Edmunds. "Despite a relatively affordable price point, the X1 offers much of the look and feel of its larger and more expensive siblings."
